Titchmarsh Castle sign

IMG_3232The History Association has erected a new sign near the telephone box opposite the Wheatsheaf. The sign has been designed to provide information about the castle, the only remains of which are some large mounds in the field nearby. The castle was the home of the Lovell family who were lords of the manor for about 200 years. They lost their estates after Francis Lovell had fought for Richard III, the king whose death in 1485 marked the beginning of the Tudor era.
