More fascinating discoveries.

Using his metal detector, Nigel Howe has unearthed a rich variety of artefacts – including coins and everyday household items – in the fields on the north side of Back Lane. The discoveries tend to support the theory that there were houses in this area and that Back Lane could at one time have been the main entrance to the village.

He has also found some items of Celtic origin close to the line of the present A14. This raises the exciting possibility of a pre-Roman settlement in that part of the parish.
